What is an Elective Procedure?

An elective procedure is performed according to the patient’s desire for a change rather than because of medical necessity. There is no urgency associated with an elective procedure, and most are not covered by a medical insurance policy. Elective procedures are often performed as a same-day surgery at an ambulatory surgery center vs a hospital. At Ayewah Aesthetics, all of our procedures are same-day surgeries performed at LC Medical.

If I get cosmetic surgery, does it mean I am vain, fake or shallow?

Absolutely not! It is important to understand that each person has the right and freedom to choose how to care for their bodies. This includes getting enough sleep, diet, and exercise. It also includes making physical changes to parts of your body that may be bothering you and diminishing your confidence. I had cosmetic surgery somewhere else and I am really unhappy with my results. What kind of options do I have for revision surgery?

Your options for revision depend on what type of surgery you got in the past. If it involved skin excision, you need to have enough skin left to work with. If it involved liposuction, you likely have residual scar tissue and may require technology like VASER ultrasonic liposuction to break through the scar tissue. Revisions to the breasts can be quite complicated and would involve an in-depth conversation with your surgeon. Most importantly, we would need to come to an agreement on realistic expectations for how you would like to ultimately look.
